On 5 June 2018, Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment by her housekeeper. The cause of her death was suicide by hanging after she had gone through depression and anxiety for years as revealed by her husband Andy. This was after Spade moved out with their daughter. The police found a note left by her addressed to her daughter. The note said, ‘Bea – I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask daddy!’ Her death got the world by surprise. Spade says that he had talked to her the previous night before her death and there were no signs or a warning that she was going to commit suicide. Her fans went on social media to mourn her tragic death and recall their first Spade Bag.
