She was born and bred in Chicago, but Phoenix captured her heart when she landed her first job in television news years ago. She came to Phoenix from the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas via the Midwest, where she anchored first the weekend newscasts, then the midday show in Springfield, IL.
Roman has covered everything from Presidential visits to deadly tornadoes to crime and education. The Illinois Times named Anita “Best Journalist.” She is fluent in Polish and didn’t speak English until she was three years old. She attended DePaul University in Chicago, where she got a real taste of big city news.
Anita interned for WLS-TV twice and for NBC Network News in Chicago. Anita ventured out west for her first job in television news, leaving behind her family and friends for a career she loves. In addition, she served for KTVK-TV in Phoenix before moving on to Yakima, WA to report and anchor.
Roman is passionate about television journalism. She feels that every story covered is an opportunity to make a difference and to help someone. She loves getting out in the community and listening to the concerns of local residents.
Anita covered the O.J. Simpson arrest, the Monte Carlo fire, and the Hepatitis C Health scare, which affected thousands of residents there during her time in Las Vegas. Furthermore, she canvassed a North Las Vegas neighborhood with Hillary Clinton and reported live on the historic democratic debates held in the Valley. She has appeared on MSNBC, CNN, and The Today Show.
When she is not anchoring, she and her fiancé love to pamper and spoil their Chihuahua “Shorty.” They also enjoy hiking all the local mountain ranges and taking advantage of the gorgeous weather here in the Valley. On warm nights they take their 1963 Cadillac Convertible for a spin or hop on one of their custom motorcycles for a ride up Camelback Mountain. She is also an avid reader, shopper and is studying to be fluent in Spanish.
