Halloran joined Channel 5, Boston’s News Leader, in 2003 as a freelance anchor/reporter and was appointed to a full-time anchor/reporter position in 2014. Before WCVB, his broadcast career included stops at ESPN, WFXT in Boston, and WPRI in Providence, RI. During his tenure at ESPN, he spent three years as an anchor and writer for ESPN.com. At Boston’s WFXT-TV Channel 25, he worked as a weekend sports anchor for three years. In addition, he spent five years at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I., as Sports Director and four years at WCVX-TV in Hyannis, Mass., first as Sports Director then moving to News Director.
Notably, Halloran started his career at “Cape 11 Alive,” then a Cablevision station, where he was a news reporter and anchor. He has written several books such as “Count The Rings” which chronicles the first ten New England sports championships of this century and “Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward,” for which he was hired as a technical consultant to the Oscar-nominated movie “The Fighter.” Amongst the books he has authored include “Impact Statement: A Family’s Fight for Justice Against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi and the FBI,” “Breakdown,” and “Destiny Derailed,” and all the proceeds from his book, “The Fellowship of the No Longer Miserable” go to the Jimmy Fund.

WCVB-TV, also known as channel 5 is a television station in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The station is affiliated with ABC and owned by Hearst Television. Its studios are located on TV Place in Needham, Massachusetts, and its transmitter is located on Cedar Street, as well as in Needham, on a tower that is shared with several other television and radio stations. The nearby Manchester, New Hampshire, is considered part of the Boston media market, making WCVB-TV part of a nominal duopoly with WMUR-TV or channel 9, that city’s ABC affiliate; however, the two stations maintain separate operations.
