Marash started at WCTC-AM (1450) in New Brunswick, New Jersey, hosting a talk show named “Dave Marash On Call.” He also worked as a reporter at WPIX and engaged in both news and sports reporting for WCBS Newsradio 88 and WNEW-FM in New York City. Later, he transitioned to WCBS-TV in New York. Marash extended to hosting ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” and NBC’s “GrandStand,” which functioned as either a National Football League pregame show or a sports series, depending on the season. During the early years of the Fox television network, he hosted a science and technology magazine-style show called “Beyond Tomorrow.”

His career continued with a time at ABC News, including appearances on “Nightline.” He anchored news broadcasts at WNBC in New York and WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. during the mid-1980s. Notably, he received Emmy Awards for his Nightline coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing and the explosion of TWA Flight 800. One of the highlights of his time with “Nightline” was a May 2001 documentary about singer Eva Cassidy. Marash made headlines when he joined Al Jazeera English in January 2006 as the network’s anchor in Washington, D.C., becoming the de facto American representative for the new English-language station. However, he resigned from this position in March 2008, citing concerns about the loss of editorial control and his inability to endorse the network’s content.

On February 14, 2011, Marash defended Al Jazeera English on the O’Reilly Factor on Fox News against accusations by Bill O’Reilly that Al Jazeera had an anti-American bias. He subsequently joined the public radio station KSFR-FM 101.1 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in March 2014 as co-news director. Since September 2014, he has been hosting the radio show and podcast “Here & There,” a series of 50-minute news interviews aired four times a week.
