He has changed his catchphrase to “I have cerebral palsy, but cerebral palsy doesn’t have me.” His now-famous catchphrase asks, “I have cerebral palsy and I serve the Lord with all that is within me, what’s your excuse?” in reference to Christians who offer justifications for their religious beliefs. He returned to Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri in 1970, having embraced Jesus as his personal Savior after being persuaded to do so by his sister.

Ring has been as a guest on The 700 Club, The OldTime Gospel Hour, and Bill Gaither’s Praise Gathering.In 1994, he published one book titled Just As I Am: The Life of David Ring.Mike Speck, a gospel musician, is referred to by Ring as his “best friend in the entire world.”Ring has appeared on shows like James Dobson’s Focus on the Family and John Hagee’s Cornerstone program.
