Jake Tapper is a skilled American journalist currently working at CNN as an anchor and chief Washington correspondent. He joined the news team in January 2013. Currently, he anchors a two-hour weekday program, The Lead with Jake Tapper, which was launched in March 2013.

He is the son of Theodore S. “Ted” Tapper and Helen Anne (née Palmatier) Tapper. His mother, who is a native of Canada, retired from the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a psychiatric nurse. Tapper’s father, who was born in Chicago, attended Dartmouth College and Harvard Medical School prior to becoming the president of South Philadelphia Pediatrics and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Jefferson Medical College.
