Before that, Samuels served as a chief correspondent on Five News and an occasional presenter. He was a reporter for Sky News and before that, a journalist with the BBC, where he presented and reported for BBC Look East and BBC Spotlight. He started his broadcasting career as a BBC trainee at BBC Radio Cornwall.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, Samuels joined the supergroup of celebrities known as The Celebs which now included Frank Bruno and X Factor winner Sam Bailey to raise money for both Alzheimer’s Society and Action for Children in 2020. They documented a new version of Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens and it was unleashed digitally on 11 December 2020, on the independent record label Saga Entertainment.
