She was born and raised in Colorado and is happy to be home. prior to coming back to Denver, Chalmers served for KGW in Portland, Oregon for 18 years. For more than ten years there, she reported on climate and environment-related issues. The Emmy-winning reporter attended and graduated from Mississippi State University where she earned her Broadcast Meteorology Certification.
During her time in Portland, she reported everything from historic wildfires to 100 mph winds, and even a tsunami. She originates from Coloradan, growing up in Englewood. She left after high school to attend the University of California Santa Barbara where she was a Lacrosse All-American.
Before joining KGW, she worked as a reporter at KOAT in Albuquerque. Prior to that, she was an anchor and reporter at KSFY in Sioux Falls, SD, and KGWC in Casper, WY. Chalmers has won numerous awards for her work including a Northwest Regional Emmy in 2011. Throughout her career, Chalmers has been nominated for multiple regional Emmy awards.
She interned in both news and sports at the ABC affiliate there before landing her first TV news job in Casper, Wyoming while in Santa Barbara. Chalmers is happy to get back to Colorado and work at the station she grew up watching. During her leisure time, she enjoys spending her time playing with her daughter and son. Between soccer games and karate lessons, you’ll likely find them on the ski slopes.
