Boddie started his broadcasting career at WHCU, the campus radio station at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. While there, he caught the broadcasting bug, as he covered campus events for the station. Also, it stirred an interest in public affairs and government. As a result, instead of going to law school after his graduation, he returned to his home of Rochester, New York, got a job at WDKX radio, and eventually moved up to news director. Good for him, it caught the attention of the local ABC affiliate television station, where Ken was hired as a reporter.
Notably, Boddie spend a short time away in Trinidad, West Indies then came to Portland and fell in love with the Northwest. He has covered everything from earthquakes and flooding to political scandals and school shootings over the years. He was awarded one of Portland’s highest civic honors when he was named an honorary Royal Rosarian in 2016.
