She was the first local reporter to arrive at the Flight 93 Crash on September 11th in Shanksville, PA.
Koeppen suffered cardiac arrest in 2011 while training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. Two medical students, who were driving by, gave her CPR and firefighters shocked her heart with an AED. She is a national spokesperson for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, works closely with the American Heart Association, and has told her story on several national talk shows.
Prior to coming to WPXI-TV, she founded Susan Koeppen Media where she works as a motivational speaker, emcee, and moderator for local and national events. She previously anchored newscasts for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. Before coming to Pittsburgh, she was a consumer correspondent for CBS News’ The Early Show.
