Reinstein hosted the premiere season of the Discovery Channel’s “Popular Mechanics” show, and a special on America’s lighthouses for HGTV. He explored Hawaii’s volcanoes, the caves of Puerto Rico, and the South Pacific islands of Tahiti, for the Travel Channel’s photo/adventure series, “FreezeFrame.”
Moreover, Reinstein was part of a Chronicle team that received a prestigious National DuPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Award for the Chronicle’s coverage of Boston’s Big Dig project in 2002. In addition, he was one of five national finalists in the Washington Post’s “Great American Pundit” opinion-writing Competition in 2010. He also received an Emmy Award for his story on the “Good Night Lights” phenomenon in Providence, Rhode Island in 2018.

WCVB-TV, also known as channel 5 is a television station in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The station is affiliated with ABC and owned by Hearst Television. Its studios are located on TV Place in Needham, Massachusetts, and its transmitter is located on Cedar Street, as well as in Needham, on a tower that is shared with several other television and radio stations. The nearby Manchester, New Hampshire, is considered part of the Boston media market, making WCVB-TV part of a nominal duopoly with WMUR-TV or channel 9, that city’s ABC affiliate; however, the two stations maintain separate operations.
WCVB currently broadcasts 43 hours, and 55 minutes of locally produced newscasts each week; with 6 hours, and 35 minutes each weekday, five hours on Saturdays, and six hours on Sundays.
