Night Shyamalan’s 2002 film Signs, where she played Bo Hess, the daughter of Graham Hess (Mel Gibson). The film was a major success at the box office, grossing an impressive $408 million. Breslin’s performance was met with critical acclaim, with David Ansen of Newsweek praising her “terrifically natural, nuanced performance.” She went on to appear in Raising Helen (2004), where she and her brother Spencer starred as siblings, though the film was not as successful.
Her performance as Kira Bedik in the 2004 independent drama Keane was widely acclaimed by critics. Meghan Keane from The New York Sun described her work as “charmingly fragile” and praised the “captivating humanity” between her and Damian Lewis’s characters.
