Rae resumed her role as the Chief Meteorologist for the NBC2 weather team in October 2017. Rae had previously worked at ABC7 and NBC2 from 2010 to 2014. She returned to the team after spending three years as the weekday morning meteorologist at the CBS affiliate in Washington DC, WUSA9, following her coverage of the Blizzard of 2016, one of the largest snow events in the region. Her excitement to come back to SWFL, the place she considers home, was amazing.
Before 2010, Rae’s career took her to tornado-prone regions in the southern Gulf States, where she worked at WSFA in Montgomery, AL, and initially at KNOE in Monroe, LA. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Rae graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Meteorology. She also holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society.
Before heading to DC, Rae tied the knot with her husband, Dan, in the Tampa Bay area. The couple are proud parents to two rescue dogs, Layla and Alice. In her free time, Rae enjoys making the most of Florida’s stunning beaches and is an enthusiastic runner.
