Lam began his journalism career at WBEN-AM in 2012 when he served as an intern there. He also served as an intern in WGRZ-TV in 2013 (in news) and in 2014 (in weather). He also filled in for the traffic reporter at NFTA from 2014 to 2019.
Throughout Lam’s career, he has covered weather across many regions and countries. He has served as a fill-in meteorologist in Rochester. First, he was at WROC-TV in 2019 and later moved to WHEC-TV from 2020 to 2021. Lam additionally served as a fill-in meteorologist for sister TEGNA stations such as WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio, and WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has also worked in Toronto, Ontario for CityNews 680 as well as providing additional weather coverage for Vancouver, Halifax, and Calgary.
Other than forecasting Lam teaches in higher education centers in communication and journalism programs such as the University of Wisconsin- River Falls, University of Buffalo, and SUNY Fredonia. He also plays violin and plays with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and Erie Philharmonic.
