These stations are situated on East Adams Street near EverBank Stadium in downtown Jacksonville, while WTLV’s transmitter is positioned on Anders Boulevard in the Killarney Shores area of the city.
The station began broadcasting on September 1, 1957, under the name WFGA-TV (abbreviated as “We’re Florida and Georgia”). Initially established by the Florida-Georgia Television Company, it was originally primarily affiliated with NBC and also held a secondary affiliation with ABC. Notably, it was the first television station in the United States that was purposefully designed for color broadcasting, and it served as a hub for the production of many color commercials nationwide. On December 16, 1971, the station underwent a name change to WTLV.
