Aunkst became a part of WFXR News in May 2022, taking on the role of Anchor, following a period of over two years at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina, where he held positions as a Weekend Anchor and Reporter. During his time in South Carolina, Aunkst covered a number of stories that gained national attention, including a mass shooting involving a former NFL player, significant hurricanes, and the tragic kidnapping and murder of 6-year-old Faye Swetlik.
Additionally, he spent a year at WDTV in West Virginia, where he assumed a variety of roles within the newsroom. While his official title was Morning Anchor / Producer, he also stepped in as an Executive Producer, reporter for the night shift, and even served as a floor director on multiple occasions.
