Eric Wilhelm is the chief meteorologist at 21 WFMJ, a position he has held since January 2013. Known as the Valley’s “Weather Geek,” Eric’s enthusiasm and love for weather have no bounds! The Earth’s atmosphere is an extraordinarily complex system, and Eric enjoys the daily challenge of trying to understand it all.
Before joining the 21 WFMJ weather team, Eric spent 11 years at AccuWeather, Inc. in State College, PA. During his time at AccuWeather, he forecasted various weather conditions for different climates across North America and delivered AccuWeather forecasts on radio and television stations in numerous markets across the country.
Eric is originally from New Philadelphia, Ohio, just 90 minutes southwest of Youngstown. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from The Ohio State University in 2001. Eric is the Valley’s only meteorologist who holds the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.
