Justin Fletcher Career

Fletcher was inspired by watching Phillip Schofield in the BBC One broom cupboard alongside Gordon the Gopher and found his calling in children’s television. Encouraged by Schofield, he created a showreel named Justin Time, featuring two distinct characters: Anna Conda, a nearsighted reptile-house warden, and Arthur Sleep, a regional newsreader with a penchant for nodding off anywhere. These characters later became part of his CBeebies show Gigglebiz. Fletcher’s first TV venture was Fun Song Factory for GMTV, followed by involvement in Tikkabilla, leading to the creation of Higgledy House and the popular Mr Tumble.

Fletcher lent his voice to various characters in shows like Tweenies, Finley the Fire Engine, and CBeebies’ Boo!, and had additional roles in Todd World, Shaun the Sheep, and Timmy Time. In 2006, he joined CBeebies as a presenter and departed in 2007. He produced Something Special through his production company, presenting and signing in Makaton. CBeebies aired three pilots by Fletcher in November 2008—Humphrey the Painter, Gigglebiz, and Captain Adorable—with Gigglebiz chosen for a full series starting September 2009.

Fletcher’s voice-over work extended to CBBC, including voicing Harold from Thomas the Tank Engine. He served as a continuity presenter for CBeebies’ links and participated in the CBeebies radio station until it transitioned to BBC Radio 4 Extra in 2011. Fletcher ventured into educational content, appearing in the Bee Bright series of DVDs and occasionally featuring in The Hollies School. Fletcher took on his initial full-time presenting role in 1998, hosting the Fun Song Factory for the GMTV series for a year. He later returned to the show in 2004, contributing as the voice of Ozzy. Fletcher showcased his singing prowess by performing multiple songs, including the theme tune, for the stop-motion animated children’s series Tom and Vicky. Fletcher released a DVD titled Let’s Sing Nursery Rhymes with Justin Fletcher.

In the CITV channel program Jim Jam and Sunny, he lends his voice to both Jim Jam and Slim, the timid giraffe. Fletcher’s voice can be heard on various platforms, including the VTech Alphabet Desk, Turn and Learn Driver, Bob the Builder phones, the children’s train ride at Animal Farm Country Park near Burnham-on-Sea, and several Crick Software titles. From December 2009 to January 2010, Fletcher portrayed Buttons in Cinderella at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham, West Sussex. Subsequent pantomime roles include playing Josh the Jester in Sleeping Beauty at The Hexagon Theatre in Reading, Berkshire, and Wishy Washy in Aladdin at the Hexagon Theatre in Reading from December 2010 to January 2011 and December 2011 to January 2012, respectively.

Fletcher has continued to grace the Hexagon Theatre stage in various pantomimes, including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, and the 2022 production of Jack and the Beanstalk. He also participates in festivals like Camp Bestival in Dorset, entertaining children. As a patron for the Bournemouth-based performing arts school Stagewise, Fletcher remains dedicated to supporting the arts. His debut album, Hands Up the Album, achieved the 16th position on the UK Albums Chart on 11 March 2012. Following this success, he released his second album, Best Friends, in March 2013, and his third album, Just Party, in January 2015. On 12 September 2015, Fletcher participated in Pointless Celebrities, bowing out in the second round.
