Jeffries became a member of the First Coast News team back in 2012 when she started as a morning reporter on Good Morning Jacksonville. After a year, she assumed the roles of Morning Traffic Anchor and Noon News Anchor. Her journey at the network took another leap in 2019 when she was promoted to the position of Morning Anchor. Alongside these responsibilities, she also delves into reporting, with a particular focus on covering unresolved cases.
In her childhood, Jeffries’s parents had distinct career expectations for her, her father envisioned her as a lawyer, while her mother saw her as a writer. As she grew, her unwavering passion for investigating, debating, and storytelling led her to pursue a career in journalism. During her time in Jacksonville, Jeffries has covered a wide range of stories spanning the entire First Coast. In May 2017, she started her “Unsolved” series, dedicated to profiling local cold cases. This series earned her a regional Emmy award in 2019 and, in 2020, contributed directly to the resolution of a missing persons case in Jacksonville Beach.
She also created the popular social media series “Driving Me Crazy,” which humorously highlights driving violations and received a local Emmy nomination in 2020. Jeffries takes pride in her coverage of significant events in Jacksonville, including Hurricanes Matthew, Irma, Dorian, and Hermine. Her reporting portfolio includes the abduction of Cherish Perrywinkle, the murder trial of Michael Dunn, the Jacksonville Landing mass shooting, and the birth of the First Coast’s first-ever conjoined twins. While much of her reporting deals with serious topics, she’s also been recognized with two regional Emmys for her lighthearted features “Bye Garbage” and “Flight School.”

Her career into journalism began during a college internship at WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she received the Fredric R. Ziv Award, allowing her to intern with CBS’s “Guiding Light” in New York City. Jeffries began her journalism career as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WHIZ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Zanesville, OH, where she got an Ohio AP Award for her story, “An Eye in the Sky.” Her journey continued at WCTI in New Bern, North Carolina, where she covered multiple hurricanes, including the devastating Hurricane Irene.
