Lopez worked for NBC 4( WRC-TV) from 1986 to 1997. She became the midday news anchor at the all-news WINS-AM/FM station in New York City. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, she briefly served as a VH1 VJ alongside Kane and Rebecca Rankin. In 2000, she hosted a special where she interviewed her sister, Jennifer, delving into their childhood and Jennifer’s burgeoning music career. The special also featured some of J-Lo’s music videos, including the VH1 premiere of “Feelin’ So Good.” Concurrently, Lopez assumed the role of morning news entertainment reporter for WB11 in New York City, WPIX.

In 2002, she took on the role of host for the Style Network’s GLOW, a cable TV show focused on women’s beauty issues, while continuing her work as an entertainment reporter. She reported on the latest entertainment news and stories for WNBC-TV, the cable entertainment TV program E! News Live, and the Spanish-language WNJU.

Lopez shifted gears to become a DJ for WNEW-FM, alongside her boyfriend at the time, Chris Booker, a New York disc jockey and Entertainment Tonight correspondent. In October 2003, she joined WCBS-TV as a part-time correspondent after her show at WNEW-FM was canceled.
