Carrillo hails from Douglas, Arizona, a border town, and grew up in Silver City, New Mexico, just a few hours from Tucson. Before her time at KOLD, Carrillo spent several years in the Pacific Northwest. She commenced her TV news journey as a Multimedia Journalist in Coos Bay, Oregon, at KCBY-TV, later serving as Weekend Anchor & Weather Forecaster for the CBS & NBC affiliates in Eugene.
Carrillo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Mexico. Initially, she was pursuing a path to medical school, but Carrillo’s passion shifted upon entering her first newsroom at KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, where she interned for three years until her graduation. Carrillo is delighted to be back in southern Arizona, close to family. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, cooking, exploring new eateries and breweries, or playing with her adopted pup, Gustavo.
