Ogle was born in Edmond, Oklahoma. The second son of Jack Ogle (1930–1999), a veteran television journalist who worked at NBC affiliate WKY-TV as a news anchor and news director from 1962 to 1977, and Karen Ogle. His two brothers, Kevin Ogle (born December 23, 1958) and Walter Kelly Ogle (born September 24, 1961). They also went into the broadcasting industry in the Oklahoma City market. Kevin Ogle is known for anchoring the weeknight 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Joleen Chaney. Also for his occasional reports including the “Bottom Line” financial segments shown during the 6:30 p.m. newscast. In addition, he occasionally fills in for anchoring the 9 p.m. newscast on KAUT-TV, an independent station. Kelly joined CBS affiliate KWTV-DT as a noon anchor and business reporter in 1990, before being appointed weeknight co-anchor in 1993.

Kent started his broadcasting career working at area radio stations including El Reno, Perry, Duncan, Lawton, and Oklahoma City. His television career began in 1989 at KSWO-TV in Lawton, where he worked as a general assignment reporter.
Afterward, he spent two years traveling the state for OETA, where he hosted and produced the feature, “On the Oklahoma Road,” and reported for Business Oklahoma, Outdoor Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Magazine. Kent also produced and syndicated “The Senate Minute” radio show to 25 radio stations throughout Oklahoma in the late 1980s. Ogle’s philanthropic efforts are seen by the Salvation Army, the Shriners Burn Centers, and the Hope Center.
