Malarkey initiated his career on the London stage, featuring in various theater productions, including notable roles in Tennessee Williams’ “Spring Storm” and Eugene O’Neill’s “Beyond the Horizon” at the Royal National Theatre. He took on the role of Jay Gatsby in an adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” and portrayed singer Elvis Presley in the Original London Company of “Million Dollar Quartet.” His presence extended to film and television with recurring roles in the RTE series “Raw” and alongside Nick Frost in “Mr. Sloane” before securing the role of Lorenzo “Enzo” St. John in Season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries.”
Malarkey’s popularity led to his promotion as a series regular from Season 6 through the conclusion of Season 8. In 2017, he appeared as “Dizel” in Jean-Claude Van Johnson for Amazon Video, as “Sam Foster” in “The Oath” for Crackle, and as “Cinch Barton” in the film “A Violent Separation.” Malarkey assumed the role of Captain Michael Quinn in “Project Blue Book” for The History Channel. As a musician, he unveiled two EPs in 2014 and 2015 before launching his inaugural full-length album, “Mongrels,” on September 8, 2017, which was complemented by music videos for the singles “Uncomfortably Numb” and “Mongrels.” In January 2020, Malarkey followed up with his second album, titled “Graveracer.”
