Catalana started his career in sports broadcasting in Binghamton where he worked for WMGC-TV (now WIVT). He joined Channel 13 as a sports presenter in 1987 and was appointed sports director in 1989. Catalana has covered almost every major sporting event in the country, including numerous Super Bowls, the Stanley Cup Finals, the Masters, and the World Series. His love of sports has been a lifelong passion.
Catalana has served as an adjunct reporter for the Bills Television Network since 2000, hosting Jumbotron halftime sports coverage of Bills games at Ralph Wilson Stadium. He is a daily sports anchor on WHAM Radio and is a member of the Bills Brothers on Thursdays at 3 pm. on the John Ditullio show on WHTK. Catalana is also an active member of the community. He is a volunteer with the Rochester Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Holy Childhood School. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Ronald McDonald House and has also served as board chairman of the American Heart Association.

Catalana received the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Feature Film for his short story “J-Mac’s Big Night”. The Ithaca College graduate has received numerous awards, including the Lowell MacMillan Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting from the Rochester Press Radio Club. He and the staff of 13WHAM Sports were named among the state’s best broadcasters by the Associated Press and the New York State Association.
