As a child he was fascinated by the variety of weather conditions we often see here in the Rochester area. He selected two independent studies on local weather patterns and events in college.
In one case, he identified the factors that led to the infamous Rochester Ice Storm of March 1991. In another article, he described some of the key factors that when taken together, could trigger some of the lake snow events in the Eastern Great Lakes. During his undergraduate studies, he spent a semester as a student volunteer with the National Weather Service in Binghamton. After seven years as a morning weatherman for the CBS affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, Marty decides to move back to West New York to be closer to his family. He lives on an Ontario County farm with his wife and two daughters.
