Gadiot received classical training at Drama Centre London and has an extensive background in stage productions. His earlier works include appearances in MTV’s Hot Mess, the British series My Spy Family (2010), and the British horror film 13Hrs (2010), also known as Night Wolf. In 2013, Gadiot made his American network debut as Cyrus, the enigmatic Genie, in ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. During the same year, he featured in a short film campaign titled Prada: Candy for the fragrance Prada Candy L’Eau, directed by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, alongside Léa Seydoux. Gadiot also contributed to three episodes of the British series Fresh Meat and starred in the German horror film The Forbidden Girl (2013).
In 2014, Gadiot expanded his creative pursuits by writing, directing, and producing the short film 12–17, which sheds light on the troubling issue of young men deceiving girls into a life of prostitution. Additionally, he played the recurring role of Caesar in the series Matador and portrayed Ka in the Canadian-American miniseries Tut. Returning to the theater in 2016, Gadiot assumed the lead role of Petruchio in William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew at the Harman Center for the Arts in Washington DC. From 2016 to 2021, Gadiot garnered acclaim for his portrayal of James Valdez in the crime drama series Queen of the South, winning the 2017 Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor – Television. In 2021, the series concluded its run with its fifth and final season. During this period, Gadiot also played Mister Mxyzptlk in The CW’s Supergirl (2017) and starred in the rock ’n roll miniseries All You Need Is Me.

In the drama film Another Girl (2021), Gadiot portrayed Dave Hastings, a character with a complex dynamic in a tumultuous storyline. Following his success in Queen of the South, he received positive reviews for his role as Adam Martin in Showtime’s series Yellowjackets, which premiered in November 2021. In 2022, Gadiot once again ventured into filmmaking by writing, directing, and producing the short film Black Ewe. He secured a recurring role as Felix in NBC’s pilot based on the Dutch series A’dam & Eva. Additionally, Gadiot made a brief appearance in the Apple TV series Silo.
Continuing his diverse roles, Gadiot played Shanks in Netflix’s adventure fantasy live-action television series One Piece, which premiered on August 31, 2023. Currently, he stars as Tom Westfall, a U.S. Army Officer and former special forces, in the second season of NBC’s Quantum Leap, a sequel to the 1989-1993 NBC drama. Outside of his acting career, Gadiot has been a sought-after model for various brands, including Kooples, Tommy Hilfiger, Topshop, Acne, and others. In August 2023, he became the face of Talisker Distillery’s 30-year-old single malt Scotch whiskey, serving as the marketing ambassador for the brand.
