He briefly worked at another Gray TV station, WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama, before returning to Region 8 in 2005. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Vaughan attended Western Kentucky University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a focus on Meteorology and Climate. During his time at WKU, he also pursued a minor in broadcast news. Outside of television, Vaughan has served as a weather observer for the Federal Aviation Administration and worked at Vaughan Plumbing Company in Nashville, Tennessee, alongside his father.
Vaughan actively participates in various organizations including the National Weather Association, CASA, the Educational Foundation of GCT, and the Greene County Rescue Squad. He is deeply involved in his church, Central Baptist-Paragould Campus. As a member of the National Weather Association, Vaughan holds the NWA Seal of Approval and was honored as the NWA Broadcaster of the Year in 2016. Vaughan is married to his high school lover and is a proud father of four children. He has a strong passion for football and basketball, often spending his free time attending games, biking, or walking his dog.
