Fernandez began her role as a Multimedia Journalist at Alaska’s News Source in November 2021, relocating from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where she held a similar position at WJFW NewsWatch12. Following an impromptu trip to Alaska, she quickly became attracted with the state’s vibrant culture and breathtaking scenery, prompting her decision to make Alaska her permanent home. Having grown up between Sherwood, Oregon, and Italy, Fernandez completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Advertising, and Religious Studies at the University of Oregon in June 2020.
Throughout her academic journey, she contributed as a reporter and producer at DuckTV, the student-operated television network, while also engaging in activities such as mock trial competitions and internships with organizations like the PAC-12 Network and the newspaper Today in Accra, Ghana. Fernandez’s interests in food, culture, and outdoor activities like hiking and snowboarding are central to her personal pursuits. She is fluent in Italian, she now aims to master the Arabic language following her focused studies in Islamic Studies at the University of Oregon.
