For him, it was the experience of witnessing thundersnow that ignited his interest. During middle school, a blizzard off the coast of Long Island brought about his first encounter with thundersnow. Born in the Bronx, New York, Bielfeld spent his entire life in Monroe, New York. He graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School in 2015 and pursued a meteorology education at SUNY Oswego, earning a BS in Atmospheric Science with a minor in mathematics in May 2019.
During his time at Oswego, Bielfeld was actively involved with WTOP-10, the student-run television station. This experience paved the way for his post-college career, starting in Elmira, New York, at WENY-TV. Initially the weekend meteorologist, he transitioned to a weekday meteorologist in November 2020. In May 2021, he seized the opportunity to join WHEC-TV. Viewers can catch Bielfeld on air on News10NBC Today during Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as on News10NBC at Noon from Monday through Wednesday.
