Jackson Roberts Career
Roberts is the lead sports anchor at WHEC-TV News10NBC. He became a part of the WHEC team in August 2021, after joining from KVRR TV in Fargo, North Dakota, where he worked for two years. During his time there, he covered various teams and athletes, including the notable experience of following North Dakota State Quarterback Trey Lance, who eventually became the 3rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Roberts also closely followed the playoff run of the University of North Dakota Hockey team in the spring of that same year.
Originally from Westchester County in downstate, Roberts was introduced to major sports scenes at a young age, becoming a devoted Mets and Giants fan early on. This exposure brought him both the joys and challenges of being a sports fan. His passion for sportscasting and reporting developed significantly during high school, where he played a key role in initiating student media coverage of athletics, including calling games and producing feature pieces. This passion continued at Ithaca College, where Roberts was actively engaged with the school’s TV and radio stations as a reporter, commentator, and play-by-play announcer.
During his senior year at Ithaca, Roberts served as the TV voice for the football and women’s basketball teams, in addition to co-hosting a local weekly 30-minute highlight and recap show. Summers were spent gaining professional experience through internships in television. Now back in his hometown, he is eager to deliver sports news and stories to the community. Roberts welcomes any story ideas and encourages everyone to say hello if they spot him around town!
